During these days of the Coronavirus assault, we need to learn how to be confident during the chaos. We all feel like an invisible enemy is stalking us as we are waiting for it to attack.  We suffer from fear in our minds.  We suffer from trembling in our minds and bodies.  We have anxiety that imprisons our joy. Something needs to happen to make us confident in chaos.

David of Israel had a visible enemy that was stalking him before he became the king.  His visible enemy was Saul, the King of Israel, who wanted to kill him.  He and his armies were scouring the countryside looking for him.  He had passionate hate for David because he knew that God had chosen him to be the next king to succeed Saul.  In his mind, there was one thing that would solve the problem. Kill David!!

David needed confidence in the chaos which was prevalent in his mind and his environment.  What did he do to gain this confidence?

First, he identified the problem and respected its power.  He said, “My enemies have set a trap for me. I am weary from distress. They have dug a deep pit in my path, but they themselves have fallen into it (Psalm 57:6).  David knew what his problem was.  He knew he was powerless against it, but God was omnipotent and could defeat the enemy.

Second, he had a consistent habit of depending on God to deliver him.  He said, “Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy! I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.”  David had confidence in God to protect him and to deliver him from the chaos eventually.

Third, David sang during the chaos.  With excitement, he proclaims, “My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises!”  He knows God will lower the boom on his enemy and defeat him once and for all.  That brought joy to his heart and brought forth a song!

We can learn from David and take these steps to be confident.  To have confidence in this Corona chaos, we should respect the power of this invisible enemy.  It is powerful, evil, and will kill if we don’t respect it.  We should keep looking to the Bible and continue praying for God to intercede on our behalf.  We should realize that God will handle the enemy and see us through the journey to victory. We build our confidence by singing or listening to songs of God’s power and His protection.  Two songs to listen to that will build your confidence in God that I would recommend listening to are There’s Nothing That Our God Can Do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MChgCghLJg and Run To The Father https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcpeLDp0Foo
